Learn how to create beautiful landscapes with wool! Needle felting is a fun and versatile skill which can be used successfully by beginners and experienced crafters. In this class you’ll work through basic techniques while creating a blue sky and hilly farm scene. While this class is appropriate for beginners, we’ll also explore more advanced techniques to craft the furrows in the back field and the grass/crops in the front field.
The $15 materials fee includes all the wool needed for your project (plus some extra), background craft felt, a foam surface and a felting needle that you can take home. During class you’ll use additional felting tools. If you already have a felting tool kit, bring it along. If you’d like to purchase additional tools (wooden handles, needles, finger covers) to take home, let the instructor know at the time of registration. She will have them ready for you at class for an additional $10.
This project is 8 by 10 inches. Bring a frame along if you like (with or without glass), or you can frame your project later at home.
Jennifer Costa, owner of The Woolen Palette (https://bit.ly/3W66HDJ), is a homeschooling mom and professional musician. She is a 19-year Charlotte resident originally from the New Orleans area. A lifelong crafter, she began needle felting in 2020 and offers workshops and sells her needle-felted art online and in a gallery in the NC mountains. Equally passionate about teaching and crafting, she is excited to share her skills and ideas. She is especially indebted to the work of professional needle-felting artist Jaana Mattson (www.jannamattson.com) for many of the basic techniques used in this class.
