Principles of Drawing – The Language of the Artist

Instructor: O'Lynda Walker

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn the principles of drawing or to brush up on your drawing skills over a period of five weeks. Participants practice techniques in class and through homework. Sessions include working through a variety of exercises using a variety of subjects from landscapes to still life to figures and portraits.

Fixing and Finishing Your Watercolor – It’s Only Paper

Instructor Linda Griffin

In this workshop, I will be showing you some of my failures and what I will do to them to make them be more exciting or at least learn how to approach them the next time (fixing and finishing ideas).

It is very exciting to see students start taking risks and coming up with ideas and ways to change a painting that didn’t turn out to our liking. All too often we put these in a bin and start a new one!

But … once it is no longer “precious” we are now free to experiment and take risks.

Create a Sleeping Kitty Needle Felted Fiber Painting

Instructor: Irene Heckel-Volpe

Learn to use needle felting wool fiber to “paint” a picture. We will be starting with a pre-felt base (sheet of partially felted wool) that has a transfer of the simple photo of a peaceful sleeping cat. Then, using our fibers and needles we will try and recreate our picture in fiber (and of course use our creative license!). We will be learning to blend fibers to get our results. Our “painting” will be an 8 x 10 picture which can easily be placed in an 11 x 14 mat and frame.

‘Needle Felt’ a Gnome for the Holidays

Come and create a cute (or maybe not so cute – oh … who are we kidding – they are all cute!) gnome character for yourself or a special someone. Great way to practice the use of shapes and colors to create your character! Create a decorative little Christmas helper and learn needle felting skills or add to the knowledge that you may already have!

Silver Jewelry Taster Workshop

Instructor: Susann Tobelman

Metal Clay is a unique art medium that allows anyone to create beautiful real silver jewelry without metalsmithing experience. Thanks to its malleable consistency, metal clay can be cut, textured, carved, molded, hammered and much more. The pieces you create make wonderful gifts!!

Intro to Book Folding

Instructor: LeAnn Ashley

Come out and create this beautiful heart book fold just in time for Valentine’s Day! Keep it for yourself or give it to a special someone on that special day. This is a beginner introductory class for learning the basics of Book Folding. No experience required!

You will learn how to center your project in your book before beginning to fold. After a little simple math, you will use a ruler and pencil to measure, mark and fold the pages of your book to create a beautiful heart as pictured,

Creative Melodies – Music Box

Instructor: Linda Harris

Come join us in making a fun, whimsical music box, yours to treasure or as a unique gift for someone special. You will be provided with a kit that includes all you need to create a music box including the musical component and decorative embellishments. Have fun painting, cutting and with a few easy stitches you will develop your own musical creation.

Join us in a relaxed atmosphere as we enjoy learning so many awesome possibilities of painting with this versatile medium! Malia will guide you through combining techniques of drawing and the painterly application of the beautiful range of color found in pastels.

Wire Wrapping Creations

Instructor: Amethyst Troupe

Our talented instructor is excited to share her tips and techniques in making stunning jewelry by wrapping wire around beautiful gemstones. You will have the opportunity to create a necklace, bracelet or ring using the gemstone of your choice. Amethyst will provide the tools you need and work with you every step of the way.

Six Week Water Color

Instructor: Linda Griffin

We are excited to offer this opportunity for you to work with an outstanding instructor weekly over a six-week period. This will allow you to take the learnings, use them between classes and then get additional feedback to move forward. In this workshop we will be designing paintings from the photographs you have chosen. We will not be copying them, but cropping, and rearranging elemets to simplify and push our creativity. Let’s have fun, while taking some risks with color and design!

Loosen Up Your Watercolors

Instructor: Mike Daikubara

An outstanding opportunity to use the color first technique to complete urban sketches. This class will be held outside in an urban area and the instructor will provide tips and techniques to create urban landscapes.

Landscape Needle Felting

Instructor: Jennifer Costa

This is a great opportunity to learn to “paint with wool”. Jennifer will provide a design, the materials and the tools you will need to take the basic design and make it your own. If you look at the pictures below you can see how the basic design has been individualized. This class is an excellent opportunity to learn a new way to create a landscape and paint with fiber. Jennifer will help you each step of the way and encourages you to bring a non traditional piece to use as a frame.

Fairies and Sprites

Instructor: Meghan McKillop

Come experience the magic of needle felting. This is a great opportunity to learn how to create a wool felted sprite or fairy for yourself or as a gift. Meghan will provide you with the supplies (including felting tools to be used in the session) to create the fairy/sprite and mount it on a base for display. Meghan will have kits available in a variety of colors and you will be able to select your kit at the start of the class. She will walk you through creating a wire skeleton or armature and then the techniques to cover the armature with wool, add clothing and locks and then mount on a display.

Spring Floral Wine Glass Painting

Instructor: Wendy Tefft

Celebrate the beauty of spring with a fun glass painting class. You will learn how to paint delicate floral designs to create a pair of wine glasses. The glass and the materials will be provided.

Farm Landscape Needle Felting

Instructor: Jennifer Costa

Learn how to create beautiful landscapes with wool! Needle felting is a fun and versatile skill which can be used successfully by beginners and experienced crafters. In this class you’ll work through basic techniques while creating a blue sky and hilly farm scene. While this class is appropriate for beginners, we’ll also explore more advanced techniques to craft the furrows in the back field and the grass/crops in the front

Mountaintop Vista

Join Susan Edmonson in creating fabric pieces celebrating the mountains of North Carolina. Susan will work with you to create designs using a variety of techniques and materials.

Advanced Book Folding with CreationsByLMA

Come out and create this cute four paws book fold for pet lovers! Keep it for yourself or gift it to a special someone. This is an advanced class for people who have some experience with Book Folding. Basics will be briefly reviewed but not a focus of the class.

Recycled Glass Art

In this class you’ll learn how to create a nice design, how to safely use the glass tools, and how to complete a beautiful art piece using recycled glass and a two-part epoxy.

In this hands on workshop, you’ll explore techniques to make your landscape vibrant and full of energy. Whether you’re working in watercolors, acrylics or oils, you’ll learn how to use color to set the mood, capture light and add depth to your work. Lucy will guide you step-by-step, starting with a demonstration that shows you how to create dynamic compositions that stand out.

Paper Quilling

Paper quilling comes with a rich history, dating back thousands of years and spans multiple civilizations. It has found a solid footing in today’s art world. Historians have dated the art form back to ancient times, when crafters would use a bird’s feather (quill) as the tool to coil the paper.

In this class rolling, coiling, pinching and shaping small strips of colored paper is used to create a cohesive three-dimensional design. From birds to flowers and animals, design options in quilling are endless.

Procreate Basics: The Artist’s Hand

in a Digital World

Learn the essentials of Procreate in this hands-on, 3-hour workshop designed for beginners and open to anyone who wants to sharpen their digital art skills.

Mermaid Garden – Fabric Book

Instructor: Susan Edmonson

Explore this underwater “Mermaid Garden” with Susan as you learn many embellishing techniques and hand embroidery techniques. There will be appliqué with hand embroidery finishes and 3-D stitches to create textures for each page of your fabric book. Stamping on fabric for a design which will be stitched and highlighted using Crayons! The First class will focus on the Mermaid Tail cover page. And the second class will focus on the underwater scene with fish and seaweed, beading and more!

Procreate Basics: The Artist’s Hand

in a Digital World

Instructor: Lisa Albinus

A beginner-friendly, hands-on introduction to Procreate focused on true, hand-drawn digital art—not AI. Students will learn the Procreate interface, brushes, layers, masking, color tools, and export options while completing a guided illustration and turning it into a professional-quality digital sticker.

Create a Goldfinch Needle Felted Fiber Painting

Irene will be conducting a morning and an afternoon class in needle felting. The morning will focus on creating a 2D painting of a goldfinch in a flower garden. In the afternoon, people will be creating a 3D otter, truly a playful creature.

The class will cover the basics of landscape needle felting as well as more advanced concepts as we create “layers” of sky and uncover the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).

Pastel Beginnings and Beyond

Whether you’re new to the amazing medium of soft pastel (not oil pastel), or you’d like to experiment with more creative techniques in pastel, this is the workshop for you!

For artists new to the medium you’ll learn about the best materials and methods to get you up to speed to creating successful paintings.

For those artists who have experience in pastel, you’ll get try other art media that compliment pastel, and new exciting ways to use them to express your artistic ideas.
