The Cabarrus Art Guild is an incorporated group of artists and art supporters who are dedicated to the advancement of the arts for educational and cultural enrichment. This is done with an emphasis on encouraging the creative process in a diverse population by providing opportunities for volunteering, exhibitions, public appreciation, and art education.
We welcome everyone into the Guild whether you are an accomplished or budding artist, you love to appreciate art or you’re just curious about creativity and the possibilities available.
The Art Guild was established in 1970, with seven Members. We are growing every year with a larger roster of Members eager to learn, and to teach, while enjoying each other’s company. We have hosted many well-known artists at our Free monthly demonstrations. We offer classes to members and non-members (non-members pay an increased fee) during the year, including painting with oil, watercolor, pastels, and acrylics. We have added more diversified classes that include new techniques, mediums, and experiences other than painting.
The Cabarrus Art Guild is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. We are completely run by volunteers. These volunteers donate their time, effort and passion to ensure that we are successful in our mission. Volunteers make possible the events and classes we all enjoy. They also work to provide back-office services that keep us operating. Volunteering for the Guild brings a certain satisfaction knowing you are helping your community while having some fun. The Cabarrus Art Guild is a non-profit organization that has primarily been kept afloat through its yearly membership dues and annual grassroots grants given by the NC Arts Council. It serves not only Cabarrus County, but many of its surrounding counties as well. Additional funding from both private and commercial sources allows the Guild to expand its many programs. Some of these programs include the ability to offer more affordable classes and workshops, connecting with underserved communities, displaying both 2- and 3-dimensional work of area artists, offering free demonstrations of different artistic methods and even a weekly meeting place for artists to gather where they can share their work and get new ideas. Your donation will not only help the Guild continue with these endeavors, but also allow it to further expand its reach within our community.

The Cabarrus Art Guild welcomes you to join us on Tuesdays for Open Art Tuesdays
The Guild welcomes you to join us at Open Art Tuesdays at the ClearWater Arts Center & Studios (223 Crowell Dr. NW, Concord, NC 28025 - enter through the double glass doors facing Kerr Street, called the Greenway Gallery).
Bring your lunch and drink, bring a project you are working on and your supplies. Or bring work you'd like to share and discuss. We start at 10am and run until 3pm, stopping at 12noon to eat and catch up. This is a working, weekly meeting, each Tuesday, to work with and share with artists and like-minded people who appreciate creativity. Don’t have a project? Drop by to see what local artists are creating. Everyone is welcome to join.
If we need to cancel or change times or details of these meetings, we plan to keep you updated via our Social Media on Facebook/Instagram so please check for any updates.
Our policy is to leave the space as we found it, so please make sure to clean up after yourself and not leave any trash or messes.
That does it for the rules, now it's time for making art, meeting new friends and having fun.
See you soon!
The Cabarrus Art Guild has an opportunity for the following positions. As you know, volunteers keep this organization alive, and we are now over 100 members strong, with MANY hugely talented people among us! Please review the open positions below, and consider helping out - we need you!
Plein Aire Group Co-Chair/Volunteers: This volunteer assists the Plein Aire Chair by attending outings and helping to sign in attendees (necessary for insurance), scouting locations for fair-weather outdoor outings, as well as alternative sheltered/indoor locations for bad weather days. They will also be calling or visiting locations to set up outings along with the Chair (to be coordinated with the Chair, as needed).
Social Media Chair: This volunteer will maintain our Facebook and Instagram sites, posting content and images as they are received for upcoming demos, classes, workshops, and for past events. They will also "boost" these events to promote greater visibility and engage with viewers who comment or ask questions on the posts to keep interest and engagement.
Social Media Co-Chair: This volunteer will support the Social Media Chair when they are unavailable and depending on the workload, may share duties. When the position is filled that will be determined.
Communications Chair: This volunteer will monitor our email account and organize various incoming emails as well as answer general questions coming in. They will also send out communication to the Guild members for upcoming pop-up events, as well as communicate incoming information to the appropriate committee members in a timely manner. Additionally, they will maintain the distribution lists used for the group and sub-groups used for emailing and add new members when they join.
Communications Co-Chair: This volunteer will support the Communications Chair when they are unavailable and depending on the workload, may share duties. When the position is filled this will be determined.
Audio Visual Chair: This person will learn the new equipment we've purchased and be available to help with other committees who would use the equipment, to help with questions, set-up, connectivity and be the resident expert for the A/V equipment.
Audio Visual Committee Volunteers: These volunteers would learn the new equipment and be available to assist the Audio Visual Chair as needed or when they are unavailable.
Event/CAG Tri-Fold Brochure/Upcoming Class Flyer Distribution Volunteers: We need some "all-purpose volunteers". These volunteers will be those we call on for various events when we need an extra few hands to help. We also need some dedicated specific volunteers to help distribute our CAG brochures and upcoming classes materials, which need to be replenished about once per month in our established locations. New locations for the CAG materials is greatly encouraged.
Please address your interest to President Elizabeth Searle at cabarrusartguild@gmail.com if you are interested in any of these positions.
