There is something so healing about nature – whether it’s a sunset, sunrise, a wispy waterfall, a babbling brook, a majestic ancient tree, a mountain top view, a playful critter or a delicate flower. I find my most peaceful moments in nature and I try to capture them to share through my photography. I hope you enjoy the visual “hike”.
I have loved art since childhood and excelled in art classes - placing in county school art contests. I have been an amateur photographer most of my adult life and following my heart, I opened my own Photgraphy and Art business in 2016 hoping one day to make this my sole occupation. I became a member of the Cabarrus Art Guild and my photos are on display there as well as on the Guild’s brick wall at Gibson Mill. I also participate in the displays at the Old Courthouse Theatre. I am a featured photographer for Blue Ridge Parkway Daily and I participate in various other online photo groups. Although taking pictures of people is not my specialty, I do take pics of friends and family upon request. I think it’s important to step out of my comfort zone from time to time and try new ventures.
My desire to seek photography as a profession occurred when I asked my husband for a good digital camera (to replace my film camera) when we were engaged in lieu of a ring. I usually have my camera strapped to me on all outings and during vacation whether it’s on an air boat in a swamp in Lousiana, on a bike on the Virginia Creeper Trail or enjoying a glorious sunset from the beaches of Sanibel. I find it hard to go anywhere – even when taking my dog - my favorite subject - to the local park without at least a cell phone pic of something that catches my eye. I get so excited and eager to share God’s glorious wonders with everyone.
My intention is to eventually add “Art” to the photography – which is the next phase – thus the “Art” part of my business name. I have always dabbled in drawing and painting, taking various classes as a kid and now as an adult (Cabarrus Art Guild has some great classes by the way). Currently, I have been working in pastels and acrylics to add to my collection – based off of my photographs.
