Beth Taft will introduce you to Gelli Printing and the various tools to help make your own expressive art.
WHAT IS GELLI PRINTING?
Gelli printing is a relatively new form of mono printing that uses flexible printing plates to create textures and layers of color on paper or fabric. Mono printing is a form of printmaking where the image can only be made once.
Beth will lead us through a demonstration showing us tools and techniques to create cards, art journals and more. She will share the fun of using various mark-making tools you may have around the house or purchased stencils to create one-of-a-kind looks. Those who make collages or art journals will find this technique just what they were looking for that completely unique look.
Depending on the volume of visitors and if time allows, there may be the opportunity to try the printing process yourself!
Beth Taft is a local artist who has mainly created art in watercolor, oils, and pastel mediums.
She taught middle-school art for 10 years. Beth has a been featured in many galleries and has won countless ribbons and awards. She loves printing, making journals and plein air painting.

Budding Young Artists
For several years, The Cabarrus Art Guild has been honored to participate in the Cabarrus County Youth Art Month. Students (through their teachers) from throughout the county submitted artwork to be evaluated for a judged award event. Along with The Cabarrus Arts Council (Outstanding Artists Awards), Cabarrus County Schools (Grade Level Excellence Awards), and the Cabarrus County Superintendent (Choice Awards), The Guild presented awards to students K - 5th Grade, called the Budding Young Artists Awards.
The Guild has been thrilled to be a part of this ceremony, recognition and support of budding artists which is integral to the future of art here and around the globe.
Thank you to our Chair, Carol Vuchnich, and our panel of judges for your time and efforts to help make this event a success. Congratulations to all who submitted their work and Bravo to those who won awards.

Plein Air with the CAG (FREE)
Has the idea or the fun of Plein Air ever fascinated you? Well first off, to explain, Plein air is a French term meaning, “denoting or in the manner of a 19th-century style of painting outdoors, or with a strong sense of the open air, that became a central feature of French impressionism.” Some famous Plein air painters were amongst the most impressive painters from history including Monet, Homer and Sargent.
Within the Cabarrus Art Guild, a group of Plein air painters have banded together to enjoy the lovely North Carolina Piedmont and surrounding sites via Plein air. They have named themselves, “Dusty Road Painters” and meet to explore the indoors (inclement weather) and outdoors that offer countless opportunities to express one’s artistic curiosity and passion.
Have questions or interested in joining this free group of adventurous artists? Reach out to Plein Air Chair, O’Lynda Walker at olynda.walker@gmail.com.
