I have been a freelance photographer for U-City Magazine, Pixoto’s 9th ranked nature photographer in 2014 along with other awards but it’s my passion for the living art that surrounds us that keeps a camera in my hands. I love traveling especially to the national parks for photographic opportunities but I'm just as content in my own backyard photographing wildlife and nature. I am a lifelong resident of North Carolina.
Lorna was born on a Technicolor Lilly pad in an oasis deep in the deserts of California. Her creativity can not be categorized into any medium or school of thought. It flows from a natural born gift that occasionally gathers in pools. Swirling collections of paintings, writings, sewn art and recipes come and go as her creative mind wanders to where it is happiest. Bright colors are always the order of the day and the images genuine and thoughtful. Her work reflects her love of Cajun music, spicy foods, silly stories and happy times. After seeing her work one can not question the fact that she is Toadaleecreative!
Deb Visbeck Art and Photography There is something so healing about nature – whether it’s a sunset, sunrise, a wispy waterfall, a babbling brook, a majestic ancient tree, a mountain top view, a playful critter or a delicate flower. I find my most peaceful moments in nature and I try to capture them to share through my photography. I hope you enjoy the visual “hike”. I have loved art since childhood and excelled in art classes - placing in county school art contests. I have been an amateur photographer most of my adult life and following my heart, I opened my own Photgraphy and Art business in 2016 hoping one day to make this my sole occupation. I became a member of the Cabarrus Art Guild and my photos are on display there as well as on the Guild’s brick wall at Gibson Mill. I also participate in the displays at the Old Courthouse Theatre. I am a featured photographer for Blue Ridge Parkway Daily and I participate in various other online photo groups. Although taking pictures of people is not my specialty, I do take pics of friends and family upon request. I think it’s important to step out of my comfort zone from time to time and try new ventures. My desire to seek photography as a profession occurred when I asked my husband for a good digital camera (to replace my film camera) when we were engaged in lieu of a ring. I usually have my camera strapped to me on all outings and during vacation whether it’s on an air boat in a swamp in Lousiana, on a bike on the Virginia Creeper Trail or enjoying a glorious sunset from the beaches of Sanibel. I find it hard to go anywhere – even when taking my dog - my favorite subject - to the local park without at least a cell phone pic of something that catches my eye. I get so excited and eager to share God’s glorious wonders with everyone. My intention is to eventually add “Art” to the photography – which is the next phase – thus the “Art” part of my business name. I have always dabbled in drawing and painting, taking various classes as a kid and now as an adult (Cabarrus Art Guild has some great classes by the way). Currently, I have been working in pastels and acrylics to add to my collection – based off of my photographs. Keep in touch by following me on Instagram or Facebook and checking out my website from time to time for any new additions! As a child she would spend hours and hours lost in the joy of creating and drawing. When she became a wife and mother, life shifted into high gear and the time available for art diminished. However, once her children grew older, the desire to create once again bubbled up to the surface.
After painting for a while in oils, Annie chose watercolor as her medium because of its transparency, luminosity, and spontaneous traits. She loves the adventure of following where the painting leads. Although watercolors can be quiet and gentle, Annie prefers to create a cheerful mood with vibrant and dramatic colors. Because watercolor painting is such a joy, she often loses track of time when picking up a brush. Annie holds active memberships in the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, High Country Watermedia Society, Cabarrus Art Guild, and the Mooresville Art Guild. Through the years she has had the privilege of studying with Susan Crouch, Sterling Edwards, Leslie Fehling, Jan Groenemann, Joyce Hicks, Joe Miller, A.J. Schexnayder, Brenda Swenson, and Wes Waugh. For the last six years, her work has been exhibited in many North Carolina juried exhibitions, judged shows and galleries and won numerous awards. Currently you can find Annie’s art at these North Carolina venues: The Billy Graham Library, The Billy Graham Training Center, and The Guild Gallery in Concord. In addition to exhibiting and selling her art, she enjoys teaching workshops in watercolor painting, sketchbook journaling, color mixing, watercolor batik, and book-binding. If you would like to schedule a workshop, please email at: [email protected]. You may follow Annie’s blog at: www.annieglacken.com, her website at: www.annieglackenwatercolors.com or on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AnnieGlackenWatercolors/ Annie’s desire is to produce art that would cause the viewer to reflect on the beautiful creation of the Master Artist--The Creator! Congratulations to our May Artist of the Month, Kristy Keistler! We encourage everyone to stop by the guild and view the whimsical wonderment of her work!
Kristy is an award winning artist in several different mediums. She started out with a love of fantasy and drawing at a very young age but did not get serious about her art until recently. She excels in cake sculpting, making fairies with polymer clay, quilting, paper sculpting, alcohol ink and paper quilling. She teaches classes in many of these at the Cabarrus Art Guild where she has been a member for several years. Meet Our Artist Of The Month... I enjoy painting landscapes and animals, as well as old houses, barns and cars. They each have a unique story to tell. Painting in pastel is my medium of choice because it combines drawing and painting. Pastels are perfect to achieve the bold color and contrast featured in my work. am excited to announce the Art Guild's January program....Josh King will be sharing his knowledge on Marketing your Creativity. For those of you wanting to enhance your income and for those of us who put off marketing as a chore, Josh's experience is needed and valuable. Please mark your calendars for January 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Guild. A description of Josh's presentation follows:
Marketing your Creativity: 3 Reasons why and how you should change your gameplan Creativity is a gift. Taking advantage of that gift and learning to use it to your benefit can often be frustrating and challenging. I have put together a workflow that not only will help you organize and promote your art but can create residual income. During the presentation I will guide you through setting up 3rd party vendors, creating trickle income and give you the framework you will need to get started. All attendees will get access to my Google document that they can customize for themselves and I will answer any questions and be available to help with the process. I hope to see you January 15! Thank you, Gail Young |
