Description:
Come create your own unique piece of art work. It’s nothing like you’ve ever done before! Your “pallet” is containers of broken glass, sorted by color. You’ll choose a frame for your piece suited to your design. A selection of beads, baubles and doo-dads is available for finishing touches. Spend some fun, creative time with results you’re sure to love.
These glass pictures make great gifts…if you can manage to give them away.
There will be guided instructions to help you through the entire process. With emphasis on safety, you should leave with all fingers unharmed and have a finished piece of unique art.
All materials are furnished. Bring ideas for the design you’d like to make. If you have a piece of glass you want to incorporate into your piece, bring it to class.
And it’s good to know that you’re helping the environment, well just a bit. You’ll be working with 95% recycled materials. Everything from wine bottles, olive oil bottles, beer bottles, tea glasses, wine glasses, goblets, plates, platters, vases, cups, butter dishes, candy dishes and salt and pepper shakers.
If it has vibrant color and a good texture it can end up in a finished art piece.

Description:
In this class you’ll learn how to create custom batik fabric for a quilt, wall hanging or garment. The batik process generates complex, stitch-able designs with wax resist and color layering on fabric.
Wax is applied to fabric with a stamp called a tjap (pronounced chop). Several choices of images are offered; turtle, irises, dragonfly, butterfly, lily, gecko, square geometric.
Colors are painted in layers alternating with wax. An optional crackling technique produces a marbled effect, it’s seen as navy blue background lines in the turtle design above. Finally, the piece is ironed to remove the wax and set the paint colors.
Each student receives guidance for developing design elements and using subtle color concepts such as value contrast, temperature contrast and color passages to unify the design.
Stitching suggestions for embroidery, beading and quilting are offered
