A Fun Twist on Traditional Painting. Combining WATERCOLOR & WAX seems as unlikely as mixing oil and water, yet, Students discover they are surprisingly compatible – and the results can be stunning!
Overview: Robin Poteet shows how to create wonderful watercolor + wax paintings on rice paper. This
is very different from encaustics. Working light to dark, students paint the lightest areas and, “protect”
until the entire surface is covered with pigment and wax. There are several additional steps before the
finished work is unveiled, but that is part of the fun. The results are often delightful and surprising.
Students of all levels enjoy this workshop. The process is explained step-by-step. Robin demonstrates
using watercolor, but acrylic painters can use their paints as well (thinned down). Robin provides
templates for the initial piece, and after learning the concept, students branch out with their own
subjects. In a 3-day workshop, students can easily complete 5 or more pieces. Students will also learn
